West Africa is currently in the midst of the most deadly Ebola outbreak ever recorded. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak a state of emergency and the deadly impact is expanding on the continent. Global Impact’s charity partners are responding to help contain the outbreak and treat victims.
More than 9,200 people in West Africa have contracted Ebola since the beginning of this outbreak in March,
making this the biggest outbreak on record.
More than 4,400 people have died as a result of the Ebola virus during this outbreak.
The disease continues to spread in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The World Health Organization reported that there could be 10,000 new cases of Ebola
every week by December if the virus is not contained.
Government agencies are closely monitoring cases of Ebola in the United States.
Government and nongovernment agencies around the world are working to contain the outbreak and treat those who are suffering. The needs increase daily as the virus spreads. Global Impact and many of our charity partners are actively responding and leading efforts to address the outbreak. Medical supplies and trained caregivers are desperately needed.
